LOOKING BACK! June 12th 1977 - 48 years ago today! On June 12th 1977 Mary Wilson performed her final farewell show with The Supremes (Scherrie Payne & Susaye Greene) at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, England. Mary Wilson announced that she would be going solo and that Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene would be continuing as The Supremes. It was later reported that Scherrie and Susaye chose Joyce Vincent as their third member. Unfortunately Motown later decided to retire The Supremes before Joyce officially joined the trio. Enjoy the photos and clippings from The Supremes' final farewell performance. June 12th 1977.

I was there. Both shows. So excited that The Supremes were to be given a new lease of life - which was announced at the shows.

I was there. It shouldn’t have ended the way it did. The group should have continued (as stated in the press at the time) but Berry pulled the plug, Big mistake. The rejuvenated Supremes (with Joyce Vincent) could have taken the brand to a higher, more diversified level - with group members contributing to writing and production.
