#FLOSFRIDAY - On Friday's we celebrate the 40 year history and legacy of The Former Ladies of THE SUPREMES.  Today we are looking back to 1998 with Scherrie Payne, Lynda Laurence & Fredddi Poole.

​Enjoy this never before seen photo from one of the ladies' many photoshoots over the years! 

This trio of FLOS performed and recorded together 1996-2009.


FUN FACT:  The Former Ladies of THE SUPREMES have been active (1986-2026) - more than twice the length of time The Supremes were originally signed to Motown records (January 1961 - June 1977.)  And,  the Former Ladies of The Supremes are still going strong!  Performing worldwide and recording new material!  #FLOS40

"That was a fun shoot! So here’s why I put them in Gold…

I was in Bangkok, Thailand and I saw some fabulous earrings (Lynda is wearing them so zoom in and take a look). I bought three pairs (obviously) and it inspired me to make them identical gold suits and corsets. Fortunately, they were over in the UK touring for about eight weeks and on the nights we were off the road, I was beavering away making the outfits.

I wanted to shoot them against a dark background to make the look ‘pop’ and it worked. But they never wore the outfits onstage because they didn’t have enough freedom for the choreography (especially arm movements) so they hung in a closet at my house for years and I eventually disposed of them when I moved. They did lots of poses in them at the shoot (I photographed them). 

Not my favourite set of uniforms I made for them but hey, it was yet another different look. When I look at these photos and think back about how much fun the four of us had on the road (and the nights off we just chilled and talked and laughed, and laughed, I realise now just how lucky I was. 

Oh, so why aren’t Scherrie & Freddi wearing their matching earrings? Because they forgot to bring them to the shoot - LOL!!!! - Steve Weaver 2026
