On Sunday, December 8th at the Gindi Theatre at the American Jewish University come enjoy a lively evening of music, dinner & cocktails, red carpet, & a tribute awarding our La Voix Golden Icon Honorees, THE SUPREMES. It'll be like no other affair.

The 2019 Golden Icon Award Honorees:  THE SUPREMES

The Supremes became Motown's most consistent hit makers and the most popular female group of the 1960's and 1970's, bridging the worlds of pop and soul with their glamour and polished singing style.

Much of their success was a result of the tailor-made songs for them by Motown's in-house writing and production team comprising Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier & Eddie Holland. THE SUPREMES set a record for the most consecutive No. 1 hits by an American group when "Back in My Arms Again," "Baby Love," "Come See About Me," "Stop! In The Name Of Love" and "Where Did Our Love Go?" rose to the top of the Billboard singles charts.

The trio continued to record and perform on the Motown label into the 1970s, keeping the legacy, the name and the music alive.  The Supremes' final farewell performance was at London's Drury Lane Theatre on June 12, 1977, and the trio was officially disbanded. Not only did the Supremes come to epitomize the Motown sound, they earned a place in music history as performers whose popularity in the '60s was second only to the Beatles.

This year La Voix studio is celebrating, paying tribute to, and honoring all of the members of THE SUPREMES (Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, Barbara Martin, Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell, Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne & Susaye Greene.) This tribute and honor is their way of recognizing and saying thank you for inspiring generations of music lovers and for being an inspiration to so many  people all over the world .

On Fridays we celebrate the legacy of The Former Ladies of The Supremes, we call it #FLOSFriday.

Today we are going back to the early 1990's with The Former Ladies of The Supremes; Jean Terrell, Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence.  The Ladies are on-stage at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
This show was for the Princess Diana Foundation. Jean, Scherrie and Lynda performed to a packed house. The Beatles' producer George Martin was there as well. Several major name acts performed that night, including the Beach Boys who the ladies met at the after party.

The gentleman behind the ladies playing guitar is Mr. Erwin Keiless, affectionately known to the ladies as "Sir Erwin Keiless!"  Erwin has played with he Ladies since their first tours of the U.K.  Erwin continues to perform with the ladies on their European dates.  He's the best and we love him and his family.

TRIVIA: These stage costumes were designed by Linda Stokes (LSO Designs.)  Linda is still designing for the Ladies and their most current gown designed by her is their "Gold Fringe"and swaravski crystals set.

"Motown A-Go-Go" weekend (October 23-27th 2019) in Detroit, Michigan at Bert's Warehouse Theater!.  Scherrie, Susaye and Joyce treated the packed audience to several of The Supremes' biggest hits including "You Keep Me Hangin' On," "Stop In The Name of Love," and "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart." All of the artists joined the ladies onstage for the finale of "Someday We'll Be Together."

Original Supremes' Florence Ballard's twin daughters Michelle and Nicole were in attendance and the ladies were thrilled to be able to chat and take photos with them.  They are beautiful women who are very proud of their mothers' legacy.
