It'll be like no other affair. The 2019 Golden Icon Award Honorees: THE SUPREMES The Supremes became Motown's most consistent hit makers and the most popular female group of the 1960's and 1970's, bridging the worlds of pop and soul with their glamour and polished singing style. Much of their success was a result of the tailor-made songs for them by Motown's in-house writing and production team comprising Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier & Eddie Holland. THE SUPREMES set a record for the most consecutive No. 1 hits by an American group when "Back in My Arms Again," "Baby Love," "Come See About Me," "Stop! In The Name Of Love" and "Where Did Our Love Go?" rose to the top of the Billboard singles charts. The trio continued to record and perform on the Motown label into the 1970s, keeping the legacy, the name and the music alive. The Supremes' final farewell performance was at London's Drury Lane Theatre on June 12, 1977, and the trio was officially disbanded. Not only did the Supremes come to epitomize the Motown sound, they earned a place in music history as performers whose popularity in the '60s was second only to the Beatles. This year La Voix studio is celebrating, paying tribute to, and honoring all of the members of THE SUPREMES (Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, Barbara Martin, Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell, Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne & Susaye Greene.) This tribute and honor is their way of recognizing and saying thank you for inspiring generations of music lovers and for being an inspiration to so many people all over the world . - La Voix Studio is owned and operated by Shoshana Payne Phillips, Scherrie Payne's daughter DATE/TIME: Sunday, December 8th, 2019 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM VENUE: Gindi Theatre at American Jewish University 15600 Mulholland Drive, Bel Air, California 90077, USA On Fridays we celebrate the legacy of The Former Ladies of The Supremes, we call it #FLOSFriday.
