#ThrowbackThursday - July 29th 2006 The Former Ladies of The Supremes celebrated their 20th anniversary with a special performance at The Music Box @ The Fonda Theatre. Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence celebrated their 20th anniversary onstage with a packed audience of fans and friends. As part of their show Scherrie & Lynda paid tribute to all of the members of the Supremes and presented them with beautiful custom made awards. Former Supremes Cindy Birdsong and Susaye Greene were in attendance to receive theirs. Unfortunately Diana Ross, Mary Wilson & Jean Terrell were unable to attend so their awards were shipped to them. The late Florence Ballard's award was sent to her daughters in Detroit. Scherrie and Lynda also presented awards to Sundray Tucker and Freddi Poole thanking them for their contributions to The Former Ladies of The Supremes' legacy. The "Mad Men" band performed an amazing FACEBOOK live concert and had a Q&A with the Former Ladies of The Supremes' Scherrie Payne & Susaye Greene! The Mad Men are based in The Netherlands and are the musicians that back the Ladies when they are in that region of the world. The Mad Men are excellent musicians and we always have fun with them! Here's a couple of behind the scenes pics of the ladies relaxing and posing for the camera between filming video promos. There's always lots of chatting, laughter and fun when we are together! #GoodTimes with #SupremeFriends  The Supremes (Scherrie Payne, Mary Wilson & Cindy Birdsong) pose for celebrity photographer Harry Langdon in this glamorous photoshoot from 1974. In 2005 The Former Ladies of The Supremes had their stage costumes displayed at the Hollywood History Museum in Hollywood, CA. as part of their Black History Month celebration. Also in attendance was Harry Langdon. As we walked up to Mr. Langdon he immediately recognized Scherrie and commented that he recognized her from The Supremes, and that she is just as beautiful then, as she is now! "Sisters United!"7/17/2020  On Friday's we celebrate the 34 year history & legacy of The Former Ladies of The Supremes, we call it #FLOSFriday. Today we are going back to 2006 when The Former Ladies of The Supremes' Scherrie Payne & Lynda Laurence with Freddi Poole recorded their single "Sisters United (We're Taking Control.)" The Lyrics were written by Scherrie Payne and the recording was produced by Rick Gianatos. Enjoy these photos from our personal archives. Today we are looking back to the early days of Scherrie's career. Before joining The Supremes in late 1973 Scherrie sang with a group out of Detroit called The Glass House. The Glass House was an assembly of talented singers put together by Holland-Dozier-Holland for their Invictus Records label in 1969. The group consisted of Scherrie Payne, Ty Hunter, Larry Mitchell and Pearl Jones who was later replaced by Sylvia Smith. The group released two full-length studio albums and had a string of singles through 1972, peaking with 1969's "Crumbs Off The Table" (co-written by Scherrie Payne.) When the group dissolved Ty Hunter and Scherrie Payne went on to join the Motown roster. Ty joined the The Originals, and Scherrie became the lead singer of The Supremes. TRIVIA: Did you know that actress Gloria Hendry was an original member of The Glass House? Gloria was with the group in the very beginning. Scherrie remembers Gloria rehearsing with the group, but not recording or performing with them. She was replaced by Pearl Jones early in the group's career. Gloria later portrayed the "Bond Girl"l Rosie Carver in the 1973 James Bond film "Live and Let Die." In that film, she became the first African American woman to become romantically involved with 007. Enjoy these vintage Glass House photos from our personal archives.
