Now, he brings that same depth, warmth, and insider perspective to the stage—live and unscripted.
And on Saturday, May 2nd at 1:00 PM: Freda Payne & Scherrie Payne bring decades of iconic music history to the stage for this special edition of Fred Talks. Freda Payne rose to international fame with her 1970 smash hit “Band of Gold,” while her sister Scherrie Payne carried the legacy of The Supremes as a lead vocalist during the group’s final era. From early days auditioning for Motown to celebrated careers in soul, pop, and R&B, the Payne sisters have left an enduring mark on American music — and now share their stories, memories, and music in an intimate, unforgettable conversation. Following the interview, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a live audience Q&A—because sometimes the best questions come from the room. Pair it all with a relaxed brunch setting, craft cocktails, and the signature atmosphere of The Velvet Martini Lounge, and you’ve got an afternoon that feels equal parts salon, storytelling session, and backstage pass. Seats are limited. Conversations like this don’t come around often. PLEASE NOTE: The Velvet Martini Lounge has a $35 per person food and beverage minimum daily, including during this event.

All studio recordings have been produced, arranged, and digitally remastered by Steve Weaver, bringing a fresh and polished sound to these timeless performances. The albums feature vocals from former members of The Supremes — Jean Terrell, Scherrie Payne, and Lynda Laurence — alongside performances from Sundray Tucker, Freddi Pool, and Joyce Vincent, creating a powerful collection that celebrates the enduring legacy of one of music’s most iconic groups. “These collections have been a long time coming,” said producer Steve Weaver. “Some of these recordings date back to 1994, when things were incredibly busy for us all, but we still found the time to create new material and revisit many classic Supremes hits from 1964-77. From the start, my goal was to preserve that unmistakable ‘Supremes vibe’ in every track. With the Former Ladies of The Supremes' 40th Anniversary approaching this July, it felt like the perfect moment to finally bring these recordings — along with exciting new material — back to audiences worldwide.” These releases mark the beginning of a new series of F.L.O.S. projects. Two additional albums are scheduled for release in the near future, including a special 40th Anniversary collection, currently planned for 15th July 2026, in time for their milestone celebratory performance in Los Angeles on 18th July 2026.

Susaye brought a new look and sound to the group. It allowed us to explore new vocal territories, giving us the advantage of being able to record songs of different genres we hadn't tried before... It was a wonderful period of time I'll always cherish. I'm so proud of the work we did both onstage as well as in the recording studios... Susaye is also a super-talented songwriter. In addition to our group, she wrote hits for various other artists such as Deniece Williams and co-written hits with Stevie Wonder. She always met vocal and writing opportunities with style and grace... Applause and congratulations go to my dear friend and Supreme Sister, the last Supreme! Thank you, Susaye Greene! Thank you for all you've done and continue to do... I'll forever love you!! Blessings, Scherrie Payne
