#FlosFriday - Celebrating 35 years of "SUPREME EXCELLENCE" with The Former Ladies of The Supremes! Today we are looking back to August of 2005 when The Former Ladies of The Supremes' Scherrie Payne & Lynda Laurence with Freddi Poole were on a two week tour of the U.K. The ladies were asked by longtime fan & friend Jim Saphin to lend their celebrity to help the city of Fairlight save their cliffside from sea erosion. JIM SAPHIN: "The Ladies were here during their U.K Tour and were performing at a gig very close to where I live. I invited them to my home before their performance. In our village of Fairlight we were experiencing sea erosion and landslides, so we got the Ladies involved in a plea to our government to get funds to build a sea defense costing 2 million pounds. In 2007 it was agreed and the work was completed saving around 10 homes, including ours! The Ladies really impressed the media and there were several articles printed. One headline was "WHERE DID OUR LAWN GO?" -Jim Saphin 2021 (Photos) from the Jim Saphin collection.
