Friday, July 24, marks the release of the Former Ladies of The Supremes' 40th Anniversary Collection—a definitive retrospective honoring four decades of preserving and performing the music and keeping the legacy alive of the world's most celebrated and accomplished vocal trio. 

The commemorative release features a wealth of previously unheard studio demos, rare live recordings and archival performances, many dating back to the group's earliest days following its formation in 1986, when Scherrie Payne was invited to create a new chapter in the continuing story of The Supremes.

For forty years, Scherrie Payne has remained the group's enduring cornerstone, leading every line-up since its inception. Scherrie’s musical partner of four decades, Lynda Laurence, and other former Supremes Jean Terrell and Susaye Greene are represented in the collection, as they also contributed to presenting the music of The Supremes with authenticity, integrity and a first-hand connection to the original Motown legacy.

The group's longevity is without equal. Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, The Former Ladies of The Supremes have enjoyed a performing career spanning more than twice the length of The Supremes' original tenure with Motown Records, from their signing on January 15, 1961, to their final performance on June 12, 1977—a remarkable achievement unmatched by any comparable female vocal group.

The anniversary collection also celebrates the invaluable contributions of group members Sundray Tucker (1992–1996), Freddi Pool (1996–2009) and Joyce Vincent (2009–present), each of whom has played an important role in the group's continuing evolution. For the first time, every performer who has contributed to the Former Ladies of The Supremes' remarkable journey is represented within this unique release.

Produced by long-time associate and former road manager Steve Weaver, the collection has been carefully curated to offer fans an unprecedented look inside the group's rich recording and performance history, presenting rare material that has remained unheard for decades.
