Sunday, January 12th 2025: Scherrie Payne performed at The Theatre 68 in North Hollywood, CA. as part of the "Here's To Life, Love, and Laughter benefit concert. The cabaret show featured performers from the stages of Broadway and Hollywood to benefit "OPERATION LOVE."
"OPERATION LOVE" helps the unhoused and those in need. Proceeds from this concert were raised to assist people who have been affected by the recent Los Angeles fires. Scherrie closed the night with the classic "Here's To Life" earning a rousing applause and a standing ovation! Click the photos below to view the full sized images. Today we are looking back to the Spring of 1992 when The Former Ladies of The Supremes (Scherrie Payne, Lynda Laurence & Jean Terrell) embarked on the "Giants of Motown" Tour of the U.K. The "Giants of Motown" tour included THE TEMPTATIONS, THE FOUR TOPS, MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS, Jean, Scherrie & Lynda of THE SUPREMES, THE MARVELLETTES featuring Gladys Horton, and Edwin Starr! They performed in arenas including the world famous Wembley Arena & The N.E.C Arena. The audio show was also broadcast on BBC radio 1 FM. Scherrie Payne & Lynda Laurence of The Supremes with Joyce Vincent, Former Ladies of The Supremes, congratulate the Apollo Theater on their 2024 "Kennedy Center Honors" Award. Did you know that Scherrie and Lynda's first ever meeting was at the Apollo Theater in New York in 1970? The ladies appeared on the same show together! Scherrie was a member of The Glass House and Lynda was a backup singer for Stevie Wonder. This was before they each became members of The Supremes! |
